TITLE: INTEL TETRAHERTZ TRANSISTORS

Intel has announced a "TetraHertz Transistor" which it claims is
the world's smallest transistor with a gate length of only 15 nm.
The transistor has been fabricated in Intel's 0.13-micron process
which enables conventional transistors with 0.06-micron gate
length and has six layers of copper interconnect. The new
transistor structure uses a high-k gate dielectric to reduce
current leakage and power consumption dramatically. As
hundreds of millions, and even billions of smaller and faster
transistors get packed on to a single die, power consumption
and the amount of heat generated in the processor core become
the most significant technical challenges.
