TITLE: CODESIGN USING SEAMLESS AND MODELSIM

Codesign of embedded systems involves the concurrent
development/verification of hardware and software.

CIRCUS is a codesign research group at the Ecole Polytechnique de
Montreal that works in collaboration with the University of
Montreal, Concordia University, the Canadian Microelectronic
Corporation, Mentor Graphics and ST Microelectronics.

The group has developed a tutorial for SEAMLESS, the hardware/soft-
ware co-verification environment produced by Mentor Graphics. The
tutorial, called Block Matcher, uses the Mentor Graphics tool, ModelSim,
for hardware simulation.

A slide presentation as well as the associated source code is included
with the tutorial. Additional codesign materials are also available on
the CIRCUS website.

Seamless can be used for implementing system-on-chip designs and
is particularly suited for Virtex-II Pro developers.

Over 400 colleges and universities worldwide participate in the
Mentor Graphics Higher Education Program. Tutorials and design kits
for fabrication via MOSIS are provided.
