TITLE: OPEN EDA OFFERS FREE SOURCE CODE TO EVERYONE

The OpenAccess Coalition operates a website to provide free
exchange of source code to everyone, thereby enabling EDA
(electronic design automation) interoperability and applications
support in EDA. The mission of the site is to serve the
communities of developers and users who are implementing
multivendor design flows through the open exhange of EDA
resources among in-house developers, commercial developers, and
academia.

To launch OpenEDA.org, Cadence is offering reader source code for
their Library Exchange Format (LEF) and Design Exchange Format
(DEF) while Silicon Integration Initiative (Si2) is offering its
services to help form communities around these and future source
code offerings.

OpenAccess Version 2.0 Source Code and Binaries are now
available. The release provides the necessary infrastructure to
meet the technological requirements for leading IC design,
supporting new levels of capacity and performance, analog/mixed-
signal content, 64-bit C++ architecture and powerful
extensibility. It includes the API specification, a full-function
production-level database supporting the API, developer
documentation, conversion utilities from LEF and DEF to OA,
sample applications and a Python language binding.

Artisan Components has donated a full set of 0.13-um technology
libraries for development of sample designs that can be used to
benchmark and test OpenAccess based EDA applications.
