TITLE: Smoking CPUs

In the past few years, the increase in density of CPU chips has
necessitated the use of heat sinks with cooling fans to perform
thermal management. A lab in Munich has performed thermal
testing on Intel Pentium and AMD Athlon processors to see how
well these CPUS handle heat sink removal. The investigators
recorded their results in some dramatic videos. In some cases,
no data loss or permanent hardware damage is observed, but in
other cases the chips become smoking CPUs.
