Altera has offered Windows-based EDA software for more than a
decade to enable designers to implement programmable logic. Its
latest offering is called QuartusII and is actively marketed by
Altera as the best for targeting Altera devices since 2x
improvements in performance have been observed. QuartusII
supercedes the popular MaxPlusII software for which Altera has
granted more than 350,000 licenses. The MaxPlusII software is no
longer being enhanced and the QuartusII software now supports
nearly all of the Altera family of devices.
