TITLE: Collaborative US/India Design Flow for ASICs

Open-Silicon, Inc. is an ASIC design service with headquarters in
California aided by cost-effective engineers in India. Customers
design their own architectures and then Open-Silicon does the
synthesis, layout and testing. The company uses a methodology
that requires engineers to follow a step-by-step schedule with
details written in English for everyone to see. Hence, the
direct labor cost per chip is generally only $100K instead of
$450K charged by competitors.

Growth of the company's 40-person staff is expected to take place
at a ratio of 5 (India) to 1 (U.S.) since Indian engineers cost
about one-fifth of what U.S. engineers do. The company works
with manufacturing partners in Taiwan and packaging partners in
South Korea.
