FILENUMBER: 463 BEGIN_KEYWORDS Reconfigurable Computing FPGAs GigaOps END_KEYWORDS DATE: june 1995 TITLE: Reconfigurable Computing Using FPGAs Reconfigurable Computing Using FPGAs (Contributed by Brad Taylor of Giga Ops) The Spectrum Reconfigurable Computing Platform uses Xilinx Field Programmable Gate Arrays (FPGAs) as computing elements and for I/O control of memories, busses, and peripherals. The Spectrum software and hardware architecture is open, modular, scalable, and reprogrammable. These systems can be reconfigured in less than 20ms to execute different algorithms. Typical customers need 2,000 to 32,000 MIPS performance at 17 MHz to 80 MHz data rates and have price, performance, footprint, and futures requirements which are not met by single or multiple ASICs, CPUs, or DSPs. Applications include machine vision, video editing, medical image processing, pre-press, visualization applications, telecommunications, neural networks, etc. Access WWW or contact: Giga Operations Corp. 2374 Eunice Street Berkeley, Calif. 94706 TEL: (510)-526-6688 goteam@gigaops.com
