FILENUMBER: 501 BEGIN_KEYWORDS Xilinx Logic Core Program END_KEYWORDS DATE: january 1996 TITLE: Xilinx Logic Core Program Xilinx Logic Core Program (Contributed by Mark Bowlby of Xilinx) Xilinx, Inc. has announced its new LogiCore program by delivering the industry's first 100 percent compliant PCI-Interface for FPGAs. The Xilinx program is unique because it offers the only pre-implemented and fully verified drop-in modules in the FPGA industry today. As a result, designers can dramatically cut development time, significantly reduce design risk, and have ac- cess to the best performance and lowest component cost available. The new Xilinx PCI modules have been tested by 30 beta customers who have successfully implemented the design in a Xilinx XC4000E Series FPGA. The modules result in the highest transfer rate of any programmable solution in the industry. They operate at 33 MHz and include high speed burst synchronous FIFOs. The modules are customizable to fit individual design requirements and allow ad- ditional logic for implementation of customized back-end func- tions resulting in a cost effective single chip solution. The Xilinx LogiCore program will provide designers with addition- al modules developed by Xilinx as well as leading third party in- tellectual property (IP) providers that are optimized and veri- fied for Xilinx programmable logic devices. Those include bus in- terfaces such as ISA bus Plug-and-Play, ATM, DSP filters and mul- tipliers, UART and DMA. Designers can choose from a broad range of complexity and application types and can use the modules without the need for extensive programmable logic design knowledge. The program includes the certification of third party modules. LogiCore partners will be provided with Xilinx design training and development tools to ensure designers' requirements are met with the highest quality drop-in modules available. Designers will have access to Xilinx's IP providers through the Xilinx worldwide web page. A LogiCore program catalog will offer an increasingly wide range of modules and industry expertise. Xi- linx LogiCore products are supported by the Xilinx HardWire pro- gram providing customers with a no-risk conversion path to a masked gate array implementation for high volume production. Initial PCI Target Interface modules for Xilinx FPGAs complete with a data sheet and comprehensive user guide are available in Viewlogic schematics for an introductory offer of $1,995 until April 30, 1996. The PCI module will be available for the list price of $4,995 effective May 1. Customers will be upgraded to PCI Intitiator modules in mid-year 1996. Other modules will be available in mid-year 1996 and prices will vary depending on the module type. A schematic package from Mentor Graphics as well as VHDL and Verilog simulation models will also be available in the first half of 1996. For more information, access: WWW
