FILENUMBER: 6012 BEGIN_KEYWORDS Prices Rapidly Prototyped MCM MCC END_KEYWORDS DATE: april 1994 TITLE: Prices for Rapidly Prototyped MCMs Prices for Rapidly Prototyped MCMs (Contributed by Bob Miracky of MCC) The Microelectronics and Computer Technology Corporation (MCC) and MicroModule Systems now offer a rapid prototyping service based on MCC's Laser Direct Write (LDW) MCM customization tech- nology that reduces the standard turnaround time for customized MCMs from several months to two weeks. The following prices are for 2"x2" MCM substrates (our most popular size). Prices for other standard sizes (2"x4" and 4"x4") are available upon request. 1) Non-recurring expenses (prices are for each unique MCM design) Commercial and government customers: $22K (substrates only) $30K (assembled MCMs) Educational institutions: $16.5K (substrates only) $22.5K (assembled MCMs) 2) Recurring expenses (in lots of four MCMs) [We can, of course, fill orders with an arbitrary number of MCMs. But multiples of four is the most cost-effective option.] Commercial and government customers: $12K (four MCM substrates only) $20K (includes four MCM substrates, die assembly, and final packaging) Educational institutions: $9K (four MCM substrates only) $15K (includes four MCM substrates, die assembly, and final packaging) The total price is given by the following equation: Total price = (non-recurring expenses) + (number of four-MCM lots) x (recurring expenses) For example, the price for a commercial/government customer ordering eight MCM substrates only (no assembly) would be: $22K + 2 x $12K = $46K The price for a university group ordering four MCMs (fully assembled and packaged) would be: $22.5K + 1 x $15K = $37.5K 3) Delivery In the case of assembled MCMs, the first two units will be shipped within two weeks of the design sign-off date. In the case of unpopulated MCM substrates, the first two units will be shipped within one week of the design sign-off date. Shipping schedule for additional MCMs will depend on the size and type of order, and will be provided to the customer at time of order quotation. By "design sign-off date", we mean the date at which MCC and the customer agree upon what comprises the MCM, and the customer supplies MCC with the design information and all die (if full assemblies are ordered) required to build the MCMs. A "user's design kit", which describes the technical characteristics of our MCMs as well as design guidelines, is available upon request.
