CPLD Software from AMD
(Contributed by Jim Walker of the Oak Ridge National Lab)
ASIC & EDA magazine announced that based on 1993 sales, AMD is
now second only to Xilinx in total programmable logic sales. AMD
also introduced the first CPLDs (5000 and 10,000 gates) with JTAG
and in circuit programming from a PC comm port. These chips run
at speeds up to 66 MHz and do not lose programming when powered
down (internal EEPROM). The user just connects to a PC to reload
new program changes.
The software, demo board schematic, cable, and application notes
are free to qualified designers. For additional information, con-
