			ELECTRICAL ENGINEERING

The Electrical Engineering Department invites applications for a
tenure-stream faculty position in Electrical Engineering from persons
holding or completing an earned doctorate in Electrical Engineering,
Computer Engineering, Computer Science or closely related disciplines.
The Department seeks applicants with a strong commitment to research
and teaching in the rapidly growing program in Computer Engineering.
Of particular interest are individuals with research interests in:
VLSI, Design Automation, Computer Architecture, Parallel Processing,
Computer Networks, and Software Engineering. Outstanding candidates in
related areas will also be considered.

The Electrical Engineering Department currently has 21 full-time
faculty and 11 affiliated faculty with positions in Computer Science,
Telecommunications, Bio-Engineering and Medicine.  Faculty
research interests cover a wide range of topics in the defined focus
areas of Computer Engineering, Control Systems, Electronics and
Optoelectronics, Image Processing and Computer Vision, Power Systems,
Signal Processing, and Telecommunications.

The School of Engineering is ranked 16th of all public Engineering
Schools in the United States and offers baccalaureates, masters and
doctorates in nine departments and programs including Electrical
Engineering and Computer Engineering. Currently there are 80
undergraduates enrolled in the Computer Engineering program, 193
enrolled in Electrical Engineering with 137 graduate students.

The University of Pittsburgh is centrally located in a dynamic urban
environment in the Oakland section of Pittsburgh, rated one of
America's most livable cities. The city offers cultural diversity in a
setting bordered by three rivers with many city parks, museums,
restaurants, centers for the arts, theaters, and world champion sports
teams.
