TITLE: OPEN VERILOG INTERNATIONAL

Open Verilog International (OVI) is a not-for-profit organization
that exists to promote and maintain the Verilog Hardware
Description Language (HDL) which was placed in the public domain
in May 1990. The organization is responsible for the promotion
and evolution of the Verilog language. OVI has balanced
representation from ASIC, EDA and systems companies. OVI had
ownership of Verilog HDL until March 1993 when it submitted
Verilog HDL to the IEEE for standardization. Final approval of
the IEEE 1364-1995 Verilog Standard was granted in December 1995.
OVI continues to support the 1364 standard while working on
Verilog language enhancements, SDF, Delay Calculator, Library
Modeling and Mixed-Signal standards to be turned over to IEEE as
well as other areas of expansion for Verilog HDL. Verilog HDL has
achieved the distinction of being the most widely used language
for top-down design. Its use continues to dramatically expand as
designs become larger and more complex. Many successful products
have been designed using Verilog HDL including many of today's
workstations, communications systems, personal computers and
consumer electronics.
