TITLE: ON-LINE TEXTBOOK ON ASIC DESIGN

DACafe is an engineering information website
sponsored by Sun Microsystems. A significant feature is an on-
line version of the Addision-Wesley text entitled
"ASICs" by
Prof. Mike Smith. The book is 1040 pages long with nearly 300
figures and over 100 tables. Each of the 17 chapters and two
appendixes consist of up to 20 sections with up to 100 problems.
Many of the figures are extremely detailed drawings and many of
the chapters contain equations involving complex typography. It
is impossible to achieve the same quality as the printed version
of the book; however, the HTML files can be projected in a
classroom. Some text (Verilog, CIF, SPICE, VHDL, etc.) can be
copied directly from the web. DACafe includes areas for
different disciplines and for News, Users Groups, etc. The
primary source of revenue for DACafe is advertising. Links to
Amazon.com and the book publisher also generate revenue. Viewing
statistics for the book at DACafe in a single week are typically
28,695 pageviews from 1260 hostnames.
