TITLE: NEW DIGITAL SIGNAL PROCESSING CHIPS

Analog Devices recently introduced a new low-cost member of the
ADSP-2116x 32-bit DSP (digital signal processing) family. Based
on a Single Instruction Multiple Data SHARC core, the new ADSP-
21161 delivers single-cycle execution of 32-bit fixed- and
floating-point math and 2.4 Gbyte/second on-chip data bandwidth.
Capable of 600 MFLOPS and priced at $35.00 in 1K unit quantities,
the ADSP-21161 is intended for applications such as:

- Professional and high-end consumer audio
- Wireless communications
- Speech recognition
- Medical imaging
- Motor control
- Telephony
