Lab Equipment
You will need to purchase a Digilent BASYS #100 board, from Digilent by Oct. 1.
The web site is www.digilentinc.com.
The kit you buy will include a FPGA board, a USB cable to your PC,
and a CD rom disc with the software for the simulator. The initial web page simply
lists a BASYS board without a numeric designation. When you check out, you will be
asked to choose between a #100 or #250 board. You should choose the #100 board.
It is okay to
purchase the board with a partner to help defray the cost. You will have
to arrange for a way to share it because each of you will need to have the
TAs check off your FPGA implementation for the lab assignments.
Required Software
- You will be using the Xilinx ISE software simulator to design, implement, and
test your circuits.
- The simulator is installed on the machines in
Ferris 206 and 425.
- You can install the simulator on your machine by downloading
the ISE webpack, slides for
the Xilinx tutorial that was given in class.
- If you want to run the Basys board off your own PC, then
you will need to download and install the
free Digilent Adept Suite.
