An Overview of the Trilinos Project

Michael A. Heroux
Sandia National Laboratories
USA

Abstract

The Trilinos Project is an effort to develop parallel solver algorithms and libraries within an object-oriented software framework for the solution of large-scale, complex multi-physics engineering and scientific applications. Trilinos provides a framework and delivery mechanism for a number of solver projects at Sandia, including linear, nonlinear and eigenproblem solvers. In this presentation we provide an overview of the Trilinos project. We focus on the overall purpose and design of Trilinos and briefly present a snapshot of the available and upcoming packages. Finally, we illustrate via examples the value that Trilinos provides to developers and users.
