Flank Steak
Peg Plank's recipe
Ingredients
- 6 tablespoons sherry or sugar or rice wine
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- Salt, pepper, oregano
- Fresh or powdered ginger (and garlic, optional)
- Flank steak (1 pound or so)
- Meat Tenderizer
Directions
Tenderize the steak, first by doing some serious puncturing with a
fork, and then with some meat tenderizer. Marinate with all the other
ingredients for at least 1/2 hour. If using rice wine, you may want to
reduce the amount of salt, and add some honey. Broil, either in oven or
on a grill, for about 6 minutes a side, or until done (and with little
burn marks on the outside). Cut diagonally.
1 steak will stuff two hungry people.
Comments
- Marinating 30 minutes will work, but overnight or up to 24 hours is best.
- Use freshly ground pepper, and lots of pepper and oregano.
- Doing this over a charcoal grill tastes the best.
- For ease of marinating, use a ziploc bag.
- To make this go a little further, try
Thai
Beef Salad.
