Prof. Sun received his Ph.D. in Control Science & Engineering (2004) and B.S. in Automation (1999) both from Tsinghua University, Beijing. Before joining UTK, he was a Project Manager with EPRI in Palo Alto, CA for R&D programs in Grid Operations and Planning and Renewable Integration. He is an IEEE senior member, an editor with IEEE Transactions on Smart Grid and an associate editor with IET Generation, Transmission & Distribution. He is a faculty Member of NSF/DOE engineering research center CURENT. Prof. Sun is a recipient of 2016 NSF CAREER award. His research interests include stability, dynamics and control of power grids and other network systems (CV, GoogleScholar, ResearchGate).
