I am serving (2016-2017) as the NSF representative to the Subcommittee on Machine Learning and Artificial Intelligence, which is part of the Committee on Technology, which is part of the National Science and Technology Council, which is part of the White House Office of Science and Technology Policy.
I served (2017) on the National Research Council's Panel on Review of the Engineering Laboratory at the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST), which assesses the quality of NIST's scientific and technical programs in the area of engineering research.
I served (2017) on the National Research Council's Panel on Mechanical Science and Engineering at the Army Research Laboratory, which evaluates research at the Army Research Laboratory in the areas of robotic/vehicle intelligence and control, robotic perception, and human-robot interaction.
I co-organized (with Alan Schultz and Frank Schneider) the Second International Workshop on Multi-Robot Systems, held at the Naval Research Laboratory in Washington, D.C., March 17-19, 2003. The proceedings of this workshop are available from Springer (ISBN: 1-4020-1185-7).
I co-edited (with Enrico Pagello and Tamio Arai) a special issue of IEEE Transactions on Robotics and Automation on the topic of Multi-Robot Systems, published in 2002.
