Dear “Sodbuster”:
Little excitement here at the old “worm works” as a live hamburger got loose down at the locker plant and decided to spend his lasi few moments up here with us. Can’t see whether they shot him by the front gate or were able to get a rope on him, but assumed they shot the beastie as excitement causes them to have the most unbelievable tough meat. Saw our lbft truck go by-—-dead doggie”.
Thipk the push mower is the way to go as it is good excercise, safe, minimum ma)tenance, and enviormentaly safe. If this turns out to be a c rock, will send you our backup Lawnboy gas mower by the Moore Freight Lines, as I am sure that you will get several visits this Spring and Summer after “The Kid” arrives. Will include an oil can ( doesn’t take much oiling) and a jar of compound you canE use the sharpen up the blades ( it is valve grinding compound) by putting this on the cutter bar and pushing mower along sidewalk. Shouldn’t really need to do this sharpening bit very often.
Should seek Joe’s advice on the garden, but would suggest that unless you have a roto tiller you can borrow or rent, I would only did a small area for the tomatoe plants and the cucumber hills as tomatoes are on about four to five foot centers and also the same for ‘cukes”/. If you don’t have wire for ‘cukes” to climb on take hoe handle and keep turning the vines in and around the hill or the bastardly vines will head for Kansas City and by all over the garden. To touch a dew damp k&*]t cumcumker vine with your hand is to invite mildew. Also keep them picked because once one them turns yellow, theplant stops setting on. With cucumbers and beans planting several weeks apart, keeps a contiunous supply’. With tomatoes go for v arietieà that have different maturity dates and a well kept vine can produce a lot of tomatoes so you don’t need a great number of plants.
After Digger Phelps blast about some colleges paying up to $10,000 for a good player, he should be as popular as terminal athlete’s foot at the coach get togethers. After all the Digger has every parish priest in the country sc outing for him and an unoffi cimal alumnus of every mass attending Catholic. Now that Georgetown has made it to the finals tonikht, I can enjoy the game as I can pleased with whichever team wins. Watched all but the last few min1utes of the Lousiville game, but tension got to me and I had to turn it off.
Put Charlie in the kitchen when Ga came I E bac k from Websters, but he wanted to be with his “buddy” in the furnac e room.
Lov e, Dad
