Overview

Graph theory provides science and engineering with a universal language for describing variables and their relationships within complex systems. This class is intended for graduate students with an interest in this subject. Lectures will be largely devoted to guided discussions. Participants will be expected to complete homework, reading assignments, and a class project.

Three hours credit will be given.

Students in any academic discipline are welcomed. The only prerequisite is an introductory-level background knowledge of discrete mathematics. Familiarity with algorithms and computation will probably be helpful but are not required.

To enroll, register for CS 594, Section 002. Graduate students in need of 6xx-level credit may register instead for CS 690, Section 001. Undergraduate students are currently permitted to take up to three graduate courses, and are welcomed as well.
