Instructor: Bob Ward Office: 107 Ayres Hall Phone: 423-974-5067 Email: ward@cs.utk.edu Home Page: http://www.cs.utk.edu/~ward Office Hours: By appointmentSCOPE: This course provides a general introduction to, and basic understanding of, scientific visualization. Upon successful completion of course, students should understand the mathematical and computer science concepts involved in visualizing scientific data and be able to write visualization codes using OpenGL and be sufficiently knowledgeable to implement them, with minimal training, in other interfaces to visualization libraries.
TEXT: The text for the course is
Angel, Edward, Interactive Computer Graphics: A Top-Down Approach with OpenGL, Addison-Wesley Publishing Co., 1997.
Students will prepare and present demos and lectures from the above text using additional references and information available on the World Wide Web.
ATTENDANCE: Attendance at lectures is mandatory, and students are expected to make all reasonable attempts to attend class lectures and discussions. Due to the expected small size of the class, the potential exists, on rare occasions, for moving class dates and times when students know in advance that they must miss a class.
GRADING: Grades will be determined from quality of class participation, both lectures and discussions.
