| This is the famous Maschinenmensch (mechanical person), also called “(false) Maria,” from Fritz Lang’s classic 1927 silent film, Metropolis, written by Lang and his wife, Thea von Harbou. In von Harbou’s 1926 novel based on the screenplay, the robot is also called “Futura,” “Parody,” and “Delusion.” | |
