Old faithful is an American icon beyond disputes. We saved our visit to Old Faithful and Upper Geyser Basin for our second but last day in Yellowstone. A lot of the hot springs and geysers that we saw elsewhere were mere platitude compared to what lay on the floor of the Upper Geyser Basin.
The Old Faithful erupted three times when we were in the Upper Geyser Basin. Using that as a timer, we must have been there for about four hours (one of the three eruption was quite small). Besides Old Faithful, we also saw eruptions of Aurum Geyser (left) and Sawmill Geyser (middle and right)
Below are pictures of the Lion Group being quiet and rumbling.
With Plume Geyser erupting on the left, to the right is a photo of the Grotto Geyser speaking up.
There are lots of pools with striking colors in the Upper Geyser Basin as well. Here are two examples, the Chromatic Pool and Beauty Pool.
The one I liked the most, so do a lot of people I believe, was the Morning Glory Pool (below).
At last, here are photos of the Crested Pool and two hot springs whose names I forgot.
