Galangal
Galangal is a root like ginger but with a much more mellow taste.
I looked for it (or Kah in Thai) for probably 7 months to
no avail.
Many places don't have it and will look at you real funny if you
ask.
The oriental market in Knoxville had it
dried and cut into slices
in plastic bags stored with the bags of other dried spices. It was called
``galangal'', and cost 49 cents. It says you can't substitute for
it. If you simply can't find it, call me and I'll mail it to you.
