Sweet and Sour Chutney
From Royal Indian Cookery by Manju Shivraj Singh, Jaipur Company
Publishers, 1987.
This is a bizarre sweet and hot chutney. Not as good as plain
tamarind chutney, but still pretty good.
Ingredients
- 6T tomato ketchup
- 1/4 cup tamarind water (I used a little more than 1T tamarind paste)
- 1t ground ginger
- 1t salt
- 1t chopped garlic
- 1t sugar
- 1t red pepper powder (cayenne)
- 1T soy sauce
- 1/4 cup water
- 1T raisins
Directions
Place all the ingredients except for the raisins in a blender or
food processor and blend together. Wash the raisins and dry on
paper towels. Stir into the chutney.
