Summary of Research

Guide to Publications

The power system consists of a vast array of devices that interact, directly through physical connection and indirectly through communication systems.  The engineering challenges are how to design and operate this system to meet stringent economic, reliability and social objectives. Regulatory changes, introducing competition and the open energy markets, along with technological developments, such as, improved power electronics and alternative generation technologies, have created a number of new interesting challenges and the possibility of a fundamentally different power grid. My research focuses on the computational methods that can address the complexities and uncertainties inherent in this future power system.

As a guide to my publications, the list below organizes my research around problems in: a) transmission and distributions systems b) power system planning, operations and markets c) controls and communications and d) modeling and performance analysis of complex information systems.
