CS160 - Lab Policies
Lab Attendance Policies and Due Dates
For your own benefit, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you read the
attendance policies below very carefully and make sure that you
understand them. Overlooking the lab-attendance requirements for
this course can have severe impact on your overall course grade.
- Lab attendance is MANDATORY!! You are expected to
work on your lab assignment during the lab period. The TA's will
indicate the required level of completion before you may leave the
lab.
- Missed or "minimally complete" labs will receive a ZERO.
The determination of "minimally complete" will be a judgement call
on the part of the TA's. If the TA's feel that you did not invest
sufficient energy to attempt to complete a lab, then the TA's will
assess a ZERO for the lab.
- Since the digital logic labs build on each other (e.g., Lab2
uses the circuits completed in Lab1, etc.), those who had errors or
did not complete previous labs will be given access to output of
correctly designed circuits.
- If you cannot make a lab for reasons beyond your control, contact
the lead TA via email as soon as you can before the actual lab
session. In most cases, absences
must be supported by written, signed evidence or documentation.
- All lab submissions are due at midnight on Sundays. You must make
the necessary arrangements for hardcopy submissions with your lab TA
since you may not have after-hours access to Claxton Complex.
Helpful Hints / Behavior
- Take advantage of your TA's office hours. They are there
to help you.
- We encourage you to use the lab facilities to test out
circuit/programming ideas and solutions before lab. (LabVIEW software
is available on computers in the hydra lab.) This will give
you the best opportunity to maximize your lab scores and finish the
labs on time.
- We encourage you to discuss any lab design/implementation problems
you might have with your fellow CS160 students outside of lab. But
any work you turn in must be your own. Cheating will not be tolerated!!
A good rule of thumb is that if, while you are performing your lab assignment
or writing up your work, you can see someone else's work, you are likely on
questionable ground.
- During lab, seek help from your TA, NOT YOUR NEIGHBOR, who has
her/his own work to do.
