Basics of Computer Science, Animated

One of the difficulties students have in introductory computer science courses is understanding the dynamic complexities of several computer science basics. One reason that students have difficulty grasping these fundamental concepts is that these basics are processes, which textbooks and lectures cannot always adequately demonstrate.

In this series of modules, students have an opportunity to experience a different approach to this topic. These modules built with Macromedia Flash 8* (See system requirements) are specifically designed with beginning computer science students in mind. They can also be used as advanced supplemental material in a computer literacy course or for a high school student who is looking to understand more about computers and computational processes.

Developed by the Department of Computer Science and The School of Art at the University of Tennessee, these modules were initially sponsored with a grant from the university's Innovative Technology Center.
