The Symposium on Distributed Autonomous Robotic Systems deals with new
strategies to realize complex, modular, robust, and fault-tolerant
robotic systems. Technologies, algorithms, and system architectures for
distributed autonomous robotic
systems will be presented and discussed during the symposium. All
interested researchers and engineers are invited to participate in DARS
2000.
The International Symposium on Distributed Autonomous Robotic Systems
successfully took place in 1992, 1994, and 1996 in Japan at RIKEN, Wako,
and in
1998 at
the University of
Karlsruhe, Germany. In 2000, Oak Ridge National Laboratory
will host DARS 2000 in
Knoxville, Tennessee, USA. Knoxville is in scenic East Tennessee, with
easy access to the beautiful Great Smoky Mountains National Park. A tour
of the robotics facilities at nearby Oak Ridge National Laboratory will
be arranged as part of DARS 2000.
DARS 2000 is being sponsored by Oak Ridge National
Laboratory, and co-sponsored (under request) by IEEE Robotics and
Automation
Society,
IEEE Industrial Electronics
Society, Robotics Society of Japan (RSJ), Japan Society of
Mechanical Engineers
(JSME), and the
Society of Instrument and Control Engineers of Japan
(SICE).
